DONE!
I know, it's not all that good but I guess it's okay. This took me 8 days to draw and 4 days to color on GIMP. This is the very first time I used a reference and I may color it with colored pencils soon since I'm not good with colouring on GIMP. Anyways, the pic features 4 gods (Neptune, Aphrodite, Ares and Hera), looking down. The Gods are watching. Are they happy? It's about how people pressure you, and when you tried your best they are yet not sasified. I really didn't have a background idea, so sorry about that I used these beautiful, awesome and wonderful stocks (however, the boy on the bottome was just testing my imagination for the human face which came out horrible as you can see): Boy on top (Neptune): [link] Girl on top (Aphrodite): [link] Girl on bottome (Hera): [link] All from the amazing stock artist: I would also like to thank Okay. I'm ready for the criticism This is NOT intended to be a religious drawing. I'm simply loving Greek mythology. This is MYTHOLOGY please bare in mind |

How realistic or stylized were you trying to make these portraits?
Are you trying to fit them all into one composition or are these sketches for another composition?

I was trying to fit them all into 1 composition which came out HORRIBLY.
X_X Sorry if I confused you. I know it's not all that good.

1. It's good that you recognize that it is not working as a composition. What you have, by my eye, are four sketches for a final design. I would try to do a compositional sketch in order to place things in a way that makes sense. While you're figuring out the composition, don't worry about the characters resembling the final product, just worry about the layout.
2. The faces on the top two portraits are probably the strongest and most unified. The one on the bottom left is interesting, but because it seems more stylized, it doesn't fit with the other two. The portrait on the bottom left is the weakest because you can barely see any of the face, and the arms look way out of proportion in a manner that does not seem like a styleistic choice.
3. They look like people, not gods. I understand the idea you are going for, but you need to add details or some touches to make them look godly/supernatural. Using the photo references is an excellent idea, but you need to add a bit more to them.
4. Most of the proportion distortions I'm seeing don't feel like concious choices. Something is missing and I still can't quite put my finger on it.
5. The composition needs some sort of background, even if it's not anything specific. Take a look through the popular work in traditional media, and see what other people are doing. You might get some inspiration there!
6. It's obvious that you are thinking about the bodies you are drawing, and that's important. But you are thinking about them as shapes, not forms. Remember the Elements of Art? When you draw your bodies, you have to remember that they are three dimensional shapes with weignt and mass. If you don't, you end up with characters looking unintentionally flat and static.
You're at one of those points in learning to draw and create that's at the edge of a breakthrough in how you see and draw. Keep practicing and you'll definately get there. I didn't say any of this to discourage, but rather to encourage and help you learn. Keep it up!

I'm not offended at all, I know you're trying to help me which is exactly what I want ^^. I didn't join a constructive critcism club for nothing! And thanks for a lot of the critquing xD I really appreciate it!
2. X_X So that's what's wrong with them! I knew there was something wrong with the bottom 2 faces but I just didn't know what! Thanks for clearing that up!
3. The godly thing is most certainly I had a problem with- I didn't know how to make them "godly" X_X But I'll try to redo that.
4. I'm sure something is missing. I was defiantly sure about that myself X_X
5. It's digital art, by the way
6. Bodies were always a problem for me and now I know why X_X. I honestly never heard of the Elements of Art (drats my school's horrible art system)! but I will look it up ASAP, and study it like mad.
Thank you so much for the critque, this is EXACTLTY what I was looking for, I appreciate it so much
